Jenica a Perla

Documentary about two teenage girl friends Jenica and Perla from excluded Roma communities - a slum in Eastern Slovakia and a suburb of Paris. The girls dream about their future and are looking for a way, how to make their dreams come true. They are friends but live 1500 km apart. They met thanks to the Kesaj Tchave dance organization that brings together Roma children from Eastern Slovakia and children from Romanian Roma families from Paris. During such holiday tour Jenica and Perla became best friends. The film aims to show the girls from two different communities across Europe as they come of age. Through their eyes we watch the life of Roma people in today’s Europe but also we portrait the world of two girls turning into women. The film addresses the issue of social exclusion determining the future of both girls and their minimal chances to leave the environment they grew up in.
